Yes, absolutely! We think Tangier is a fantastic city and a truly unique starting point for a Moroccan adventure. It has a fascinating history where Europe and Africa meet, which you can feel in the architecture and the atmosphere. It makes for the perfect first chapter to the story of your 9-day journey with us.
Yes, you can get a wonderful feel for the city in a day. Our itinerary is designed to give you the first afternoon and evening to explore its key sights, like the Kasbah and the Medina, and to soak in the atmosphere before we begin our journey south together the next morning.
The most interesting and historic parts of the city, like the Kasbah and the maze-like streets of the Medina, are very walkable and best explored on foot. For everything else, you don’t need to worry at all, as your private vehicle and personal guide will be with you to handle all the navigation.
While you could always spend more time exploring, the day we’ve allocated in our itinerary is the perfect amount of time for you to experience the highlights and unique energy of Tangier. It gives you a great introduction to Morocco before you embark on your grand tour across the country with us.
Like in any big city, we advise our guests to politely ignore any unsolicited “guides” who might approach you and to be mindful of your belongings in crowded areas. The best part of traveling with us is that your personal guide is with you from the very start, ensuring you have a safe, smooth, and hassle-free experience every step of the way.
Tangier is a great place to pick up some beautiful souvenirs at the start of your trip! It’s well-known for quality leather goods, like bags and jackets. You can also find lovely crafts and textiles that reflect the unique style of the northern Rif Mountains.
In the very modern, tourist-focused parts of Marrakesh, you will certainly see some visitors wearing shorts. However, to feel most comfortable and to be respectful throughout your entire 9-day journey with us, especially in smaller towns and the ancient medinas, we recommend wearing lightweight trousers, long skirts, or dresses.
